Silent Lament

In a world that's changed overnight,
We stand divided, yet so near in sight.
A window between us, cold and clear,
Your tiny hand pressed there, mine here.
Birthdays and holidays pass us by,
Celebrations muted, no shared lullaby.
I long to hold you, to feel your embrace,
But for now, I treasure your smiling face.
Oh, Through the glass, I see you grow,
So close, yet so far, this much I know.
Our hearts connect, though we can't touch,
This barrier between us won't last forever,
Our bond grows stronger with each endeavor.
Though circumstances keep us apart,
You're always present within my heart.
I'll paint you pictures with words so dear,
Of times gone by, though you can't be near.
And when the day comes we can embrace,
Joy will light up your precious face.
Oh, Through the glass, I see you grow,
So close, yet so far, this much I know.
Our hearts connect, though we can't touch,
Grandchild of mine, I love you so much.
Through the glass, our love shines bright,
Unbreakable, enduring, day and night.
